Choice Cinema: If These Walls Could Talk, Madison

5:30 PM-8:30 PM, Madison Public Library - Central Branch, 201 West Mifflin Street, 2nd Floor - Room 202. Choice Cinema is devoted to screening and discussing movies that depict reproductive rights issues. For our first screening, join us for a viewing of the 1996 HBO movie If These Walls Could Talk. This film depicts three stories of three different women who are all struggling with unplanned pregnancies. Discussion will follow the movie screening. Summer Evening at the Club, Hartland

6:00 PM-10:30 PM, Bristlecone Pines, 1500 E. Arlene Drive.  Sponsored by The Women’s Center. An evening mirroring the 50’s Rat Pack Era. Step back in time to the 50’s & help us raise $50,000 to help women & children of Southeastern Wisconsin. LIVE Auction to raise funds to support the following programs: Employment Program, Community Education, & Shelter. Hot & cold hors d’oeuvres, cocktails and live music. Gather with other supporters of choice, and sample some of Wisconsin’s best wine, beer, cheese, and chocolate. This year’s celebrations will feature NARAL Pro-Choice America President Nancy Keenan along with presentation of our first ever Dr. George Tiller Memorial Award. Women’s Equality Day, Madison

5:30 PM-7:30 PM, Samba Brazilian Grill, 240 W. Gilman St. Celebrate The 90th Anniversary of Woman Suffrage. Exactly 90 years after the 19th Amendment granted women the right to vote on August 26, 1920, the Madison Chapter of the National Organization of Women (NOW), Wisconsin NOW, and the Wisconsin Women’s Network (WWN) will be gathering here in the capital of the very first state to ratify it – Wisconsin. Featuring State Rep. Terese Berceau, Emily Reynolds, President of Wisconsin NOW, Eve Galanter, Chair of the WWN Board of Directors, and Stephanie Wright, President of Madison NOW.  Admission is free.  For more info: WWN and Wisconsin NOW.
