Board of Directors, Vice Chair/Special Events
The Wisconsin Women’s Network currently has an opening for Vice Chair/Special Events on its Board of Directors. This position expires in December 2011, and may be renewed for a new two-year term. We particularly encourage applications from representatives of member organizations in WWN, but the position is also open to individual members of WWN. The Vice Chair/Special Events is responsible for the events sponsored by the Wisconsin Women’s Network, which has included such celebrations as Women’s Equality Day. This is an opportunity to see if membership on the 10-member Board of the Wisconsin Women’s Network, working on issues important to women and families, is a good fit for you. Communications/Special Events and Program/Administration Internships
The Wisconsin Women’s Network is currently seeking interns in the areas of Communications and Special Events and Program and Administration for Fall 2010. Applications will be accepted until the positions are filled. For more information or to apply, please contact Johanna Hatch, administrator.
Task Force Members
Get involved in task forces organized around particular issues. Current task forces include the Women Veterans Task Force, the Reproductive Rights Task Force, and the Women and Criminal Justice Task Force, as well as the WI Elder Economic Security Initiative Coalition. Duties may include:
- Attend regular meetings of task forces either in person or via telephone.
- Keep in touch with task force business via email.
- Represent an interested community group by being a liaison.
- Take action, lobby, write letters to the editor.
- Do research on behalf of the task force or other volunteer tasks as needed.
Average time commitment: 2 hours a week (meetings and e-mail communications)
Committee Member
Join a Board Committee: Communications, Development, Events, Membership, or Public Policy.
Duties may include:
- Attend regular meetings
- Take part in specific committee activities including planning and implementation.
Average time commitment: 1 hour a month for regular committee meeting; additional hours depending on interest and activity (short- or long-term project or commitment)
Issue Monitors
Watch for news and legislation on women’s issues including, but not limited to: arts, business, children, education, elections, employment, economic equity, economic security, health, LGBT, international women’s rights, racism, reproductive rights, sexual assault, domestic violence, women and aging. Duties may include:
- Send information and news electronically to the Network for inclusion in the e-bulletin or newsletter.
Average time commitment: 2 hours a week (internet research and e-mail communications) Can work from home.
Event Support
Help staff Network events (March - women’s history; April - Legislative Day, Madison; August - Women’s Equality Day, Madison; November - Stateswoman of the Year award banquet, alternates between Milwaukee and Madison). Duties may include:
- Supporting registration, staff information tables, help with refreshments.
- Could also give more time as a part of a planning committee for an event.
Average time commitment: 2-3 hours per event or as needed.
Office Support
Help with office tasks during the weekday. Current office hours are Monday through Friday, 9am to 4pm. Duties may include:
- Update member records, data entry, assemble mailings, make photocopies, file
Average time commitment: 2 hours per shift.
Graphic Designer for Marketing Literature
Update our marketing pieces using your skill and creativity. Duties may include:
- Work with the Communications Vice Chair to develop a plan for a consistent look across all pieces
- Create new electronic layouts of each piece as time allows
Average time commitment: Hours dependent on scope of project. Can work from home.
Grant Researcher and/or Proposal Writer

- Work with the Development Committee to create a grant research plan
- Identify grant seeking possibilities
- Draft grant proposals
- Pursue grants
Average time commitment: Hours dependent on scope of project. Can work from home.
