Wisconsin Women Network Statement on Funding Shift in State Well Woman Program

Below is a Wisconsin Women’s Network statement released Tuesday, December 27 following news that the state would shift Well Program coordination in four counties from Planned Parenthood to the Winnebago County Health Department:
“We applaud the Winnebago County Health Department for coming forward to ensure there will be no gap in coverage for women in the affected counties. Although it is reassuring that the Planned Parenthood contract will now be extended through February to ease the transition of services, we are dismayed that earlier actions by the state to end this contract may have threatened the health and well-being of so many Wisconsin women and their families. We wish them all a happy and HEALTHY new year”
